Welcome to Vexel Art week with Project Educate! I am ^TheLastHuzzah, your host for the week. Today I am introducing you to Vexel Art, and digging nice and deep to aid the understanding of this fantastic media. Introduction
Vexel Art takes a great deal of time, patience and skill, contrary to public opinion. This misunderstanding has arisen because, sadly, it is often (incorrectly) said that vexel art is simply tracing a posterized photograph. While I do agree that this is a way that many people start off in the media, and a small number of people continue in it, vexelling is a form of drawing, in the same way as any other media. Vexel Art and Stock: Making The Most Of ResourcesMany vexel artists like to use stock images as a creative influence for their artwork. Most stock images on deviantART are generously provided free of charge for this very purpose, so why not use them?

There are several forms of stock images out there, but for the purpose of this article, we are going to be looking into portrait photography, as this is a very popular choice for vexel artists.

Sketchmatch rulesWhat is Sketchmatch?
The original Sketchmatch actually was originated on Twitter by idea of ~eL-HiNO, ~toonfed and ~Tebin-Art and later transfered to deviantArt via dAmn
The rules and way to participate has changed slightly since then but the main rules remain the same; the idea is to create a quick jam, a group of deviations with a theme which is set at the moment by the people currently participating.
The catch is that you only get 10 minutes to do your entry!

I’m doing great! I’m Renato Mariano and you can call me RENEN from the Philippines. I have been a member of DA for almost three years. Often times looking at DA refreshes my inner soul.

Actually I was an avid fan of vector art. Browsing different kinds of art leads me to discovery of vexel art, which turn out to be more exciting. Through vexel art I was able to explore colors and concept to my artworks which thought me the virtue of patience in putting all the details and elements.
And how would you describe your work?
I tried to give the impression of a detailed realistic vexel art. I love putting different elements needed to produce best art possible but it takes a lot of time.

Traditional Darkroom is where it all began. It started in a world where the word 'photography' didn't yet exist and the art of creating images of reality with light and chemicals sat somewhere between science and magic. Did you know that the mathematicians Aristotle and Euclid describe pinhole cameras in the 4th and 5th centuries?

In the early 1800s, artist/inventors like Louis Dageurre and Henry Fox Talbot (among others) experimented with ways of fixing images using chemicals, including silver compounds, following exposures on materials like glass and metal, lasting from several minutes to several hours. By 1840, Talbot was creating negative images using the calotype process and John Herschel had invented the cyanotype process (where the term 'blueprint' comes from) and created the first glass negative in 1839.

What is Digital Darkroom?What is Digital Darkroom?
Digital Darkroom is the evolution, converting chemical processes to digital ones, cellulose and silver to pixels and bytes. The first digital camera, weighing 8 pounds with a resolution of 0.01 megapixels, was built in 1975 and recorded black and white images to a cassette tape. The first camera which recorded images as computerised files was made by Fuji in 1988 and the first commercially available digital camera was created in 1990.

The Digital Darkroom gallery on dA is for photographs which have been digitally processed or edited with the use of computer software to emulate traditional and alternative film darkroom techniques. It's also a place for very modern processes like HDR photography, which involves creating images with a higher range of visible tones than regular photography.

Should they be blank so as to let people find out their own reasons for enjoying the featured pieces...? Today we will take a look at the different perspectives on this subject! Descriptions or write-ups often include the reasons why said Daily Deviation was chosen, highlighting details that might go unnoticed or expressing the suggester and/or the CVs feelings towards the piece in question. Including a descripion or not is up to each individual CV. Ones prefer writing something for it, others don't. In the end it's just a matter of preference!

PE: Digital Art VS other categoriesThe category system within deviantArt has the purpose to organize the thousands of artworks submitted every day and group them together in accordance to style, media, genre and/or theme, etc. Imagine deviantArt without categories, it would be a chaos! Imagine yourself wanting to browse for photography only; without the system organizing every deviation by media, you would find yourself unable to filter artworks that aren't photography in your search results.
Thus the importance of categorizing your artwork correctly. By submitting your work to the appropiate category combined with a correct use of keywords, you're a step ahead of being discovered by people wanting to search for art like yours.
All this sounds so nice and all, but what happens when a particular piece could fit in several categories? The category system as it is now is very specialized and has literally thousands of different subcategories buried down tons of more subcategories, which is both a blessing and a curse. Havi

The Super-Fun Mega Games Sheet

Everyone enjoys a good puzzle to crack, right? Especially when there are prizes involved... So for Vexel Art Project Educate week, I decided to make a games sheet with loads of fun puzzles and games for you to solve and enjoy

Of course, this games sheet is open to everyone

First prize - The first person to return this games sheet completed correctly will win a deviantART hoodie of their choice (subject to availability) & 1 year premium membership to deviantART, or the points equivilent!

The two runner's up, who will be the next two to return it completed correctly, will each win a 6 month premium membership to deviantART, or the points equivalent

To win the main prizes, all the answers must be 100% correct, if you get even just 1 wrong, you will not win... although if you're the first to return it and you've got most of them right, I'm pretty sure I can give you some points for your efforts

If you need to print it out to fill it in, you're welcome to do so, just make sure its still readable when its scanned back in

Once you have finished, upload it to your sta.sh so nobody else can see your answers. Then, send me aka ^TheLastHuzzah a note with a link to it tilted 'games sheet' or something similar.
